Overview
Held in Gruissan, southern France, amidst global pandemic lockdowns, the 2020 “Lords of Tram” was the event’s second edition. Initially organized as a local gathering for 26 of France’s strongest riders, it ultimately became an important event where next-generation talents emerged.
Location and Conditions
The stage was Gruissan’s legendary kite spot, “Vieille Nouvelle.” Despite a DIY organizational approach, the extreme Tramontane winds howled, delivering harsh yet perfect conditions for big air.
Format and Competitors
Originally planned as a French community event, domestic top talents such as Clément Huot, Paul Serin, and Angely Bouillot entered the competition. Proven riders like Louka Pitot from Mauritius were also in the mix.
Furthermore, it became a major talking point that young Italian prodigies, including the then 15-year-old Andrea Principi and the Casati brothers (Lorenzo and Leonardo), also participated in this event. They displayed a “stratospheric” level of riding that far surpassed the adult professionals, drawing immense attention.
Highlights and Memorable Moments
In extreme conditions, riders pushed their limits in fiercely contested heats. While the event concluded with the grassroots passion of a local French contest, the young Italian riders who showcased their undeniable skills in this wind helped elevate the standard of the entire discipline.
