The wind window refers to the three-dimensional, half-dome-shaped airspace downwind of the rider where a kite can fly. When a rider stands with their back to the wind, this is the area directly in front, above, and to the sides where all kite maneuvering takes place.
The wind window is broadly divided into the “power zone” in the center directly downwind where the kite generates the most pull, and the “edge of the window” (edge of the window) on the outer perimeter where the kite has the least power. Understanding the wind window is the most fundamental safety concept in kitesurfing, and launching and landing are always performed at the safe edge of the window.
