Jamie Overbeek is a Big Air kiteboarder from the Netherlands. He possesses exceptionally high takeoff skills from flat water, generating astonishing heights purely through his own edging without relying on kickers or waves. With a style strictly dedicated to pushing altitude, he currently holds the WOO world record at 42.3 meters as of August 2026. He is also highly regarded for his technical ability to land incredibly complex rotational moves cleanly, including the Doobie loop and his signature Tornado spin.
Career
At just 16 years old, Jamie entered the “Red Bull King of the Air 2022” and achieved a historic feat by becoming the youngest rider ever to reach the podium, securing second place. Since then, he has repeatedly broken the WOO height world record and stands as the rider with the most jumps over 30 meters in his career. In 2024, he achieved his long-sought first victory on the GKA World Tour at the “Lords of Tram”.

Jamie maintains a highly independent stance, refusing to be bound by the frameworks of massive legacy brands. When he won the Lords of Tram in 2024, he was completely unsponsored, having purchased the best equipment available—including Duotone and Harlem kites—out of his own pocket to defeat the world’s top professionals. During this event, he spray-painted the logo of the defunct pioneer brand “Wipika” onto the bottom of his board using a stencil, intentionally sparking rumors of a new brand signing as a joke that sent the entire industry into a frenzy. Currently, the Wipika trademark is actually owned by Vantage, and Jamie’s older brother, Sean Overbeek, is also affiliated with Vantage. He later officially signed with the major French brand F-ONE, though they subsequently mutually parted ways. He is now supported by Kitemana while maintaining his freedom to choose whichever kite works best for his competitions.
Personality & Relationships
Jamie has openly shared that he was diagnosed with autism at the age of five. While he struggled with controlling his impulses as a child, he beautifully channeled those traits into the expressive space of kiteboarding. Prioritizing “being on the water” above traditional gym training, he has a fiercely stoic routine, spending long hours on the water every day—ranging from riding foil kites in 12 knots to 7m tube kites in 50 knots of wind. He is renowned for his “Animalistic Focus,” displaying absolutely no fear even in severe storms exceeding 40 knots. His trademark look includes wearing gloves and a unique sun-hat style helmet. He is strongly backed by “Team Overbeek,” with his family—including his father, who acts as his cameraman and driver—continuing to travel with him and provide exceptional support to this day.
