Goofy-Stance

Goofy-Stance refers to the riding position in board sports where the rider stands with their right foot forward and their left foot back. It is the opposite of regular stance, with approximately 20 to 30 percent of riders naturally adopting this foot placement.

In kitesurfing and surfing, left-breaking wave locations like One Eye in Mauritius are highly favored by goofy footers because they can ride facing the wave face on their frontside. Conversely, in regular-favored spots like Cape Town for the Red Bull King of the Air (KOTA), goofy riders face a disadvantage, though goofy-footer Marc Jacobs famously overcame this by training in switch stance to win the title in 2021.
